One of the fun things about being a Girl Scout is the opportunity to go camping. Whether it is in a cabin or a tent, there always new things to experience and discover.

Although you may want to bring all of the comforts of home with you, it is important to pack light. Everyone has to carry their own gear! It is also important to pack the right kinds of clothes. Always bring different layers of clothes in case it becomes cold and an extra set of clothes just in case you get wet.

As campers and scouts, we follow the Outdoor Code.

OUTDOOR CODE
As an American, I will do my best to
Be clean in my outdoor manners,
Be careful with fire,
Be considerate in the outdoors,
and be conservation-minded.

Everything that we do outdoors has an effect on the surrounding environmment. Here are some of our camping rules:

• Stay on designated trails and campsites
• Clean up all garbage from meals and activities
• Only leaders and designated adults are allowed to touch the campfire
• Respect native plants and animals - you kill it, you eat it!
• Take only pictures, leave only foot prints
