One thing that Girl Scouts are always known for is...Girl Scout Cookies! While you are not required to sell cookies, it is a major fundraiser for Girl Scouts. Here are some links to tell you about those infamous sweet treats:

Back in the 1920s, Girl Scouts were required to bake their own cookies to sell. Here's the original recipe:

1 cup butter or substitute
1 cup sugar
2 tablespoons milk
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 1/2 cups plain flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt

Cream butter and sugar. Add well beaten eggs, then milk, vanilla, salt, flour, and baking powder. Chill. Roll thinly, cut out and bake at 350 degrees for about 8 minutes or until golden brown.
Sprinkle sugar on top. This recipe makes 6 to 7 dozen cookies.
