Junior Girl Scouts FAQ

On this page you will find the answers to some of the questions you might have about being a Junior Girl Scout.

Do I need a uniform?

We leave it up to the girls in the Junior troop to decide. They are not required at meetings but if you do have one we would like you to wear it to parades and other public appearances, so that everyone knows we are Girl Scouts. If you don't want to wear the whole uniforn, just the sash or vest is fine. If no one wants to wear uniforms we may look into designing a troop t-shirt to wear in place of one.

Do I need a handbook?

You can buy one if you want to do badge work on your own outside of meetings. If you don't want to buy one, we have several older handbooks that can be loaned out. If you do your own badgework, make sure you document everything you do and give the papers to Nicole or Colleen so that we can approve them.

What if I miss a meeting?

If we did a craft project and there are enough materials left over we will gladly give them to you to do at home. If we did badgework, Nicole or Colleen can help you to make up the work if you want to. If you are going to miss a meeting, please try to call or email your leader so that we know before the meeting who will be attending.

What kind of activities do we do?

We do everything from educational trips, trips to Hershey Park and other fun places to community service, badges, and camping. We are always open to suggestions for activities from girls and parents.

What if my friend wants to join but it is the middle of the year?

Girls can join at any time of the year. Just ask your leader for a registration form.

Do you have any other questions? Talk to your leaders and we can post it on here incase someone else has the same questions.
